NIA hosted its 1st MEGA Give Away, in Hermitage Shopping Ctr. Parking Lot today, it was a total blast. Shoppers started shopping for all the FREE items before we could completely set up the multiple types of food items, house cleaning and paper products, health & hygiene products & clothing. Our stock pile was full to the brim, we thought we had too much. Little did we know, we didn’t have enough, our cupboard was bare by 1:00PM. We underestimated the power of gifting. It felt amazing to know we were providing a need that many seemed to appreciate.
NIA members, NIA’s honorary members Jeannie Weakliam, Eastward Councilman Joe Harrison were on site as always, Jersey Cream helped drive this effort strong as always. My grandsons brought the noise loading trucks, my daughter and granddaughters, Mr. & Mrs. Carella, Mrs. Chacon all brought sweat equity; and then there is Andrew the energizing bunny, championing his way to make sure all seniors were good, personally filling their bags, carrying bags to cars across the parking lot the entire time, he never stopped.
It's important to mention those that helped make this possible with providing, and collecting donations, Mercer St. Friends, De ’Lite Hair Boutique, Jeremy’s Closet, Galilee Baptist Church, Our Lady of Sorrows & St. Anthony's Parish, Carella Shoes & HDR Inc.
